Trip Overview

Just like Annapurna Base Camp Trek, Annapurna Circuit Trek is also an easily accessible trekking which is a very popular trekking offering high mountain passes (Thorong La Pass, 5,416 M Altitude).

The Annapurna Circuit Trek offers beautiful landscapes of the Annapurna region, and mesmerizing views of many high peaks including Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Gangapurna, Khangsar Kang, Mount Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Tilicho Peak, Nilgiri Himal, Hiunchuli Etc.

This trek is ideal for people willing to spend their time in high mountains with beautiful snow-covered Mountain Views.

Other Information

Permits Required

1.TIMS (Trekkers Information Management System):

This Permit is required for every trekker trekking in Nepal. The permit can be obtained from Nepal Tourism Board and costs NPR.2000 (USD 15.00 to 16.00)

2.Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP):

As Annapurna Circuit Trek requires you to enter into Annapurna Conservation Area, you need to obtain Annapurna Conservation Area Permit to go to this region. This permit costs around NPR.3000 (USD 23.00 to USD 25.00).

All the permits for this trek will be arranged by your trekking service provider.

Food and Accommodation

Like the majority of the treks, Annapurna Circuit Trek offers you accommodation in the tea houses with basic facilities (A little more than other regions). Every Tea house has a menu and you can have your own choice. But most of the foods are dominated by the Nepali Dal-Bhat and similar meals but in this region, you can find common fast foods like Pizza, mo: mo and dumplings, Spaghetti, etc. in major teahouses.

 

Packing List

As this is a Challenging and Adventurous Trek in the Annapurna Conservation Area, you need to be well-prepared for treks.

It is recommended to have

  1. A pair of Hiking/Trekking Boots along with Shoe Clamps for Snow Grips (only during the snowy period).
  2. A pair of walking sticks as per your requirement.
  3. Few pairs of warm/thick socks & two hiking trousers (You can decide on your own as no laundry will be available during the trek).
  4. 2-3 T-shirts along with long sleeve shirts.
  5. Warm jackets, wind stopper (for daytime while doing the trek in lower region)
  6. Some dry fruits and nuts/nut bars, basic medicines (Paracetamol, anta-allergics etc.) and Sunscreen.
  7. A Pair of knee supporter.
  8. Head Lamp, Toilet Paper (or you can buy at lodge) and quick drying towel.
  9. Thermal Under wares (body warmers)
  10. Warm Gloves, Sunglasses and sun hats.
  11. Sleeping bag, backpack (Duffle bag will be provided by your company), water bottle.

Detailed Itinerary

Arrive at Kathmandu on day 1. Our representative will receive it at the airport and will drop it at the hotel. If time allows you can explore the city on your own.

Staying in Kathmandu for all the trek preparation works like obtaining permits for Treks, meeting your guide, and getting a briefing about the trekking. Check your gear and do shopping if needed. We can arrange sightseeing arrangements as per your requirement if interested. In the evening packing for the trek.

At 7 am, pick up from hotel and drive to Dharapani directly by Private transportation. It is about 9 hours of drive. On the way stop for the lunch and will continue the drive after the lunch. Until Bhulbhule, pitched road, and then off-road drive. Overnight at tea house/lodge.

Start your day after breakfast as usual. It will take around 7-8 hours in total to reach Chame from Dharapani. Staying at a local guesthouse/tea house at Chame for the night. Chame is also a district headquarter of Manang.

After breakfast in the morning, walk for around 6-7 hours in total for the day. Reach at Pisang and stay at a local tea house for the night.

The trail for this day is relatively flat and you can cover more distance at the same time duration. Trekking for this day will be around 6-7 hours and covering a distance of around 15-16 km. Overnight at Manang in a local guest house.

After entering high altitude areas, need some rest and acclimatization. Hence this day will be reserved for exploring Manang, viewing the beautiful views of Annapurna Range and exploring local cultures of Manang.

After a day rest at Manang and acclimatization, head to Yak Kharka. Take lunch at Yak Kharka and continue to Lether. The total trek for the day will be around 4-5 hours. Staying at a tea house at Lether for the night.

After breakfast at Lether, head towards Thorong Phedi. The flat trails ascent gradually and total trek for the day will be around 5-6 hours and total distance covered will be around 7 km. Overnight at High Camp.

This day will be great passing one of the high pass called Thorong La Pass (5416 M). The day is tough and total trek for the day will be around 8-9 hours to cover a distance of around 15 km to reach Muktinath though Thorong La Pass. Reach Muktinath late afternoon or evening. Staying at a local guest house at Muktinath. Choose either to stay at Muktinath to rest and explore the next day or keep walking to Jomsom as per your fitness level and willingness/ability to walk.

This day, after the breakfast, walk down the kagbeni. Visit one of the oldest monastery in this region. This place is the boarder of restricted area (forbidden valley of Upper Mustang). Have lunch here and walk further to reach Jomsom. Overnight at Jomsom.

The distance between jomsom to tatopani is around 49 km. Take a jeep/bus ride to reach Tatopani (Hot Spring) and will be staying at a local guest house at Tatopani for the night. You can choose to stay at Tatopani if you want for another 1 day or keep walking to finish your trek early. You will get better accommodation and western standard meals at Tatopani.

The trekking distance from Tatopani to Ghorepani is around 15.5 km and will take around 8-9 hours. Overnight at Ghorepani at a local guest house. On the way, you will cross magar village called “SIKHA”. Lots of rhododendron trees are on the way and the views are very scenic.

Early Morning walk to Poonhill for sunrise view, get back to lodge and take breakfast. Walk down to Ulleri and drive back to Pokhara by Private transportation.

Pokhara is a beautiful city. If you are willing to explore more, we can arrange you further sightseeing and city tour. If you are not interested in exploring Pokhara more and want to be back to Kathmandu, you can either fly (on your own cost) or drive back to Kathmandu. Or if you would like to go for Jungle Safar, paragliding, river rafting and any other extra activities, we can arrange you as per your requirement with additional package cost.

If you wish to extend your trek longer than the given itinerary, you can directly extend with our guide. Additional cost will be applied on per day basis for this.

On your required date, we will transfer you to International Airport for your departure.
