Trip Overview

The Mardi Himal Trek is short, moderate in difficulty, and filled with mesmerizing views of the Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu ranges. We organize a 5 days to 6-day (Pokhara to Pokhara) Mardi Himal Trek.

This trek is ideal for beginners and the ones with less number of days to spend yet want to have a full trekking experience. The trip is best for spending holidays in Nepal on the lap of the mountains. Those having 7-10 days of holiday planning in Nepal can do this trek.

Other Information

Permits Required

1.TIMS (Trekkers Information Management System):

This Permit is required for every trekker trekking in Nepal. The permit can be obtained from Nepal Tourism Board and costs NPR.2000 (USD 15.00 to 16.00)

2. ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Permit):

As you will be entering Annapurna Conservation Area for this trek, the permit for the ACAP is also required for this trek.

All the permits for this trek will be arranged by your trekking service provider.

Food and Accommodation

Like the majority of the treks, Mardi Himal Trek offers you accommodation in the tea houses. Every Tea house has menu and you can have your own choice.

However, the following are the common foods you will get to eat during the trek.

  1. Breakfast: Simple Breakfast (Eggs any item, toast or Tibetan Bread, Muesli, Oat Porridge, pancakes, etc.)
  2. Lunch: Nepali Thali Set (Plain Rice, Potato and green vegetable curry, Lentil soups, Spicy tomato pickle, Chicken curry optional), Pasta and Spaghetti, Mo.Mo or dumplings, Fried Rice, Noodles, Pizza, etc.
  3. Dinner: Nepali Thali Set (Plain Rice, Potato and green vegetable curry, Lentil soups, Spicy tomato pickle, Chicken curry optional), Pasta and Spaghetti, Mo.Mo or dumplings, Fried Rice, Noodles, Pizza, etc.

Packing List

As this is a very short and easy trek of Annapurna Conservation Area, you do not require any special gear for this trek.

It is recommended to have:

  1. A pair of Hiking/Trekking Boots along with Shoe Clamps for Snow Grips (only during the snowy period).
  2. A pair of walking sticks as per your requirement.
  3. Few pairs of warm/thick socks & two hiking trousers (You can decide on your own as no laundry will be available during the trek).
  4. 2-3 T-shirts along with long sleeve shirts.
  5. Warm jackets, and wind stopper (for daytime while doing the trek in the lower region)
  6. Some dry fruits and nuts/nut bars, basic medicines (Paracetamol, anta-allergics, etc.), and Sunscreen.
  7. A Pair of knee supporters.
  8. Head Lamp, Toilet Paper (or you can buy it at lodge), and quick drying towel.
  9. Thermal Under wares (body warmers)
  10. Warm Gloves, Sunglasses, and sun hats.
  11. Sleeping bag, backpack (Duffle bag will be provided by your company), water bottle.

Detailed Itinerary

Arrive at Kathmandu on day 1. Our representative will receive at airport and will drop at hotel. If time allow you can explore city by your own.

Staying at Kathmandu for all the trek preparation works like obtaining permits for Treks, meet your guide and get briefing about the trekking. Check your gears do shopping if needed. We can arrange sightseeing arrangements as per your requirement if interested. In the evening packing for the trek.

Drive/fly (as per our choice. Flight cost USD 97.00 extra which will take about 25 minutes) to Pokhara from Kathmandu. Driving to Pokhara by Tourist bus will take around 7-8 hours and by private jeep it will take around 5-6 hours depending upon the road conditions. Overnight at Hotel in lakeside area. If time permits have a look around lakeside.

After Breakfast at Pokhara, take a 1 to 1.5 hour drive to Kande. After reaching kande, trek starts. Head towards Australian base camp.  After walking for almost 2 hours, reach Australian Camp. Have your lunch there and trek towards Deurali. Walk for around 3-4 more hours to reach Deurali. Rest there for the night.

After morning breakfast at Deurali, start walking towards forest camp. After walking for around 4 hours, reach Forest Camp and have lunch there. After lunch, walk for like 3-4 hours more and reach Low Camp and stay there for the night.

As usual after breakfast, start your journey from Low Camp to High Camp. On the way, you will get to see spectacular views of Mount Machhapuchhre and Annapurna. After a trek of around 4-5 hours, you will reach High Camp. You will be staying at High Camp for the night.

Early in the morning, around 1-2 hour before sunrise, start your trek today. After a trek of around 2.5-3 hours reach Mardi Himal Base Camp. Stay there for some time to enjoy beautiful view of Mardi Himal. After Spending around 1 hour at Mardi Himal Base Camp, walk down to High Camp, have lunch and further trek down to Badal Danda and stay there overnight.

After breakfast in the morning, start your trek for the day and walk towards Siding Village. Walk for like 4-5 hours to reach Sidling Village and drive back to Pokhara which takes around 2-3 hours. Stay at a hotel in Pokhara for the night.

Pokhara is a beautiful city. If you are willing to explore more, we can arrange you further sightseeing and city tour. If you are not interested in exploring Pokhara more and want to be back to Kathmandu, you can either fly (on your own cost) or drive back to Kathmandu. Or if you would like to go for Jungle Safar, paragliding, river rafting and any other extra activities, we can arrange you as per your requirement with additional package cost.

If you wish to extend your trek longer than the given itinerary, you can directly extend with our guide. Additional cost will be applied on per day basis for this.

On your required date, we will transfer you to International Airport for your final departure.

What’s included?

  1. Meals: 3 meals a day (Breakfast/Lunch and Dinner) during the trek which you can choose from the menu. Our guide will suggest fresh and hygienic meals. A cup of tea or coffee will be provided with the meal.
  2. Accommodation: Basic Tea House accommodation during the trek on twin sharing basis. Three Star standard hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara for 2 nights each with breakfast.
  3. Transportation: International Airport Pickup and Drop by Private Vehicle. Kathmandu Pokhara, Pokhara to Kathmandu by Deluxe tourist bus. Pokhara to trekking starting point and trekking end point to Pokhara by private transportation. (If you would like to fly Kathmandu to Pokhara and Pokhara to Kathmandu, we can book your tickets at your own cost as per the prevailing airline rate (normally USD97.00 one way fare).
  4. Trekking Permits: ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Permit), TIMS (Trekkers Information Management System).
  5. Equipment: If required, we will provide you with a down jacket and warm sleeping bag which you need to return after the trek. For the personal equipment required, you can check our packing list.
  6. Human resources: Professional English Speaking trekking Guide and a porter carrying 25 kg (One porter for 2 trekkers). If you need an individual porter, we can provide you with additional cost. Everything for the guide and porter is included in the price such as their food, wages, accommodation, equipment, insurance, transportation, etc.
  7. All Applicable government tax and company service Charges.

What’s not included?

  1. All personal nature expenses, soft drinks, mineral water, coke, Fanta, any alcoholic drinks, extra drinks, snacks, sweets, and desserts.
  2. International airfare, Nepal visa.
  3. Tips for the guide and the porter (mandatory).
  4. Internet or Wi/Fi, battery charging fee, hot shower cost and boil water cost, etc.
