Trip Overview

The Everest Base Camp Trek offers beautiful landscapes of the Everest region, the lifestyle of local ethnic people (The Sherpas) and their cultures, Alpine and Rhododendron forest along with a view of high snow-covered mountains, high altitude passes, and glaciers.

Doing a Full Everest Base Camp Trek might take you more than 2 weeks, hence we have customized this trek with a helicopter return to shorten the trek time by 5-6 days. You can even shorten this to less than a week if you choose to take a helicopter both the times going up and returning. You can contact us for the customization of the trip.

Day 3: Fly From Kathmandu to Lukla ( 2750 M) and Trek to Phakding (2610 M)
Day 4: Trek From Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440 M)
Day 5: Exploration/rest day at Namche Bazaar
Day 6: Trek From Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3860 M)
Day 7: Trek From Tengboche to Dingboche (4360 M)
Day 8: Trek From Dingboche to Lobuche (4940 M)
Day 9: Trek From Lobuche Everest Base Camp (5364 M) and back to Gorakshep (5170 M)
Day 10: Early Morning Trek From Gorakshep to Kalapatthar (5644 M) and take helicopter to Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu

Other Information

Permits Required

1.TIMS (Trekkers Information Management System):

This Permit is required for every trekker trekking in Nepal. The permit can be obtained from Nepal Tourism Board and costs NPR.2000 (USD 15.00 to 16.00)

2. Other Permits from Local Authorities:

As Everest Base Camp Trek requires you to enter many protected areas, you need to obtain a permit to enter these region. Following are the permits required for doing EBC Trek as per our itinerary.

  1. Khumbu Pasang Lamhu Rural Municipality Entrance Permit
  2. Everest Trek Card Implementation.
  3. Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit

You can obtain all these Permits from Either Lukla or Monjo.

Food and Accommodation

Like the majority of the treks, EBC Trek offers you accommodation in the tea houses with basic facilities (A little more than other regions). Every Tea house has a menu and you can have your own choice. The Foods you get mostly are Nepali Dal-Bhat, Thukpa (Noodle Soup), Spaghetti, Mo: Mo or Dumplings, etc.

 

Packing List

As this is an adventurous and challenging trek, you need to be well prepared for this trek.

It is recommended to have:

  1. A pair of Hiking/Trekking Boots along with Shoe Clamps for Snow Grips (only during the snowy period).
  2. A pair of walking sticks as per your requirement.
  3. Few pairs of warm/thick socks & two hiking trousers (You can decide on your own as no laundry will be available during the trek).
  4. 2-3 T-shirts along with long sleeve shirts.
  5. Warm jackets, and wind stopper (for daytime while doing the trek in the lower region)
  6. Some dry fruits and nuts/nut bars, basic medicines (Paracetamol, anta-allergics, etc.), and Sunscreen.
  7. A Pair of knee supporters.
  8. Head Lamp, Toilet Paper (or you can buy it at the lodge), and quick drying towel.
  9. Thermal Under wares (body warmers)
  10. Warm Gloves, Sunglasses, and sun hats.
  11. Sleeping bag, backpack (Duffle bag will be provided by your company), water bottle.

Detailed Itinerary

Arrive at Kathmandu on day 1. Our representative will receive at airport and will drop at hotel. If time allow you can explore city by your own.

 

Staying at Kathmandu for all the trek preparation works like obtaining permits for Treks, meet your guide and get briefing about the trekking. Check your gears do shopping if needed. We can arrange sightseeing arrangements as per your requirement if interested. In the evening packing for the trek.

You will take a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla which is around 35-40 minutes flight. Arrive at Lukla, take breakfast, meet your porter there and walk for around 3-4 hours to reach Phakding from lukla and will be staying at lodge for the night.

This day, after breakfast, you will walk towards Namche bazzar. You will be walking for around 5-6 hours this day. You will be staying at a local guest house for the night. The facilities at the local guest houses at Namche Bazar are far better than any other tea houses/guest houses of other trekking routes.

Namche Bazaar is quite big market area. You can enjoy the views and explore the village. Take it easy and relax at Namche Bazar.

 

After breakfast at Namche Bazar, you will start your trekking for the day. This day you will be walking for 5-6 hours. You will be staying at a local guest house for the night. In the evening, you can visit the Tengboche Monastery.

As usual after breakfast, you will start your trekking for the day. You will be walking for around 6-7 hours. You will be staying at a local guest house for the night.

The distance between Dingboche to Lobuche is around 8.5 km and it will take around 5-6 hours trek to reach Lobuche from Dingboche as you will be trekking in comparatively higher altitude.

 

Today is the day you will be reaching Everest Base Camp. Starting early in the morning from Lobuche, you will be reaching Gorakshep for Lunch early after around 3 hours of trek. After having lunch at Gorakshep, you will be heading to Everest Base Camp which will take you around 2-3 hours to cover around 3.5 km of distance because of the high altitude, rough terrain and rocky path. After spending some time at Everest Base camp, you will be returning to Gorakshep for the night.

This day, you will be heading to Kalapatthar early morning which will take around 1 and Half hours from Gorakshep. You will then take a helicopter ride to Lukla and connect flight to Kathmandu from Lukla.
