The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek offers beautiful landscapes of the Annapurna region, mesmerizing views of many high peaks, natural greeneries, local culture, and food.

Day 6: Trek From Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3210 M) to Tadapani (Altitude 2600 M)
Day 7: Trek From Tadapani to Ghandruk (1950 M) and drive back to Pokhara
Day 8: Drive/Fly Back to Kathmandu

Other Information

Permits Required

1.TIMS (Trekkers Information Management System):

This Permit is required for every trekker trekking in Nepal. The permit can be obtained from Nepal Tourism Board and costs NPR.2000 (USD 15.00 to 16.00)

  1. Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP):

As Annapurna Circuit Trek requires you to enter into Annapurna Conservation Area, you need to obtain Annapurna Conservation Area Permit to go to this region. This permit costs around NPR.3000 (USD 23.00 to USD 25.00).

  1. Other Local Area Permits:

You will also require to get Poon Hill Entry Permit to do the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek.

All the permits for this trek will be arranged by your trekking service provider.

Food and Accommodation

Like the majority of the treks, ABC Trek offers you accommodation in tea houses with basic facilities. Every Tea house has a menu and you can have your own choice. But most of the foods are dominated by the Nepali Dal-Bhat and similar meals. Our guide will suggest you select fresh, hygienic, and trek-suitable food.

 

Packing List

As this is a very short and easy trek of Annapurna Conservation Area, you do not require any special gear for this trek.

It is recommended to have:

  1. A pair of Hiking/Trekking Boots.
  2. A pair of walking sticks as per your requirement.
  3. Few pairs of warm/thick socks & two hiking trousers (You can decide on your own as no laundry will be available during the trek).
  4. 2-3 T-shirts along with long sleeve shirts.
  5. Warm jackets, and wind stopper (for daytime while doing the trek in the lower region)
  6. Some dry fruits and nuts/nut bars, basic medicines (Paracetamol, anta-allergics, etc.), and Sunscreen.
  7. A Pair of knee supporters.
  8. Head Lamp, Toilet Paper (or you can buy it at the lodge), and quick-drying towel.
  9. Thermal Under wares (body warmers)
  10. Warm Gloves, Sunglasses, and sun hats.
  11. Sleeping bag, backpack (Duffle bag will be provided by your company), water bottle.

Detailed Itinerary

Arrive at Kathmandu on day 1. Our representative will receive it at the airport and will drop it at the hotel. If time allows you can explore the city on your own.

Staying in Kathmandu for all the trek preparation works like obtaining permits for Treks, meeting your guide, and getting a briefing about the trekking. Check your gear and do shopping if needed. We can arrange sightseeing arrangements as per your requirement if interested. In the evening packing for the trek.

Drive/fly (as per our choice. Flight cost USD 97.00 extra which will take about 25 minutes) to Pokhara from Kathmandu. Driving to Pokhara by Tourist bus will take around 7-8 hours and by private jeep, it will take around 6-7 hours depending upon the road conditions. Overnight at a Hotel in the lakeside area. If time permits have a look around the lakeside.

Start your day after breakfast. At 8 am a private Jeep will transfer you to Tikhedhunga where your trek starts. You will then start your uphill trek and reach Ulleri after a moderate walk of around 2.5-3.00 hours. Stay at a local teahouse for the night.

After breakfast in the morning, walk for around 5-6 hours in total for the day. On the way after Banthali, you will walk through dense forests. Reach at Ghorepani and stay at a local tea house for the night. Ghorepani is also known as a major settlement area for the Pun Ethnic People.

Wake up early in the morning and hike towards Poon Hill which takes roughly 1-1.5 hours. You can view an outstanding sunrise view over Annapurna Himalayan Range from this place. You can view the different snow-covered mountains of the Annapurna Range and Dhaulagiri Range from here. This place is also regarded as one of the best mountain viewpoints. After a sunrise view and a few photographs, you climb down to Ghorepani and have breakfast. After a short rest, walk towards Tadapani. Reach Tadapani after a decent walk of around 5 hours. Stay there at a local guesthouse for the night.

After breakfast at Tadapani, trek for around 3 hours and reach Ghandruk for Lunch. This will be the easiest path during the trek. After having lunch at Ghandruk, drive back to Pokhara by Jeep. Stay at a Hotel in Pokhara.

Pokhara is a beautiful city. If you are willing to explore more, we can arrange you further sightseeing and city tour. If you are not interested in exploring Pokhara more and want to be back to Kathmandu, you can either fly (on your own cost) or drive back to Kathmandu. Or if you would like to go for Jungle Safar, paragliding, river rafting and any other extra activities, we can arrange you as per your requirement with additional package cost.

If you wish to extend your trek longer than the given itinerary, you can directly extend with our guide. Additional cost will be applied on per day basis for this.

On your required date, we will transfer you to International Airport for your departure.
